Walnut

Walnut (Juglans regia) is a tree species belonging to the Juglandaceae family, characterized by long lifespan and vigorous growth. It is sensitive to waterlogging, late frost, and summer drought stress, all of which can compromise flowering and fruit set. It flowers in spring with pendulous male catkins and female flowers located at the tips of current-year shoots. The fruit, a drupe with a woody endocarp containing the edible kernel, ripens between late summer and early autumn.

Walnut prefers temperate climates and deep, fertile, well-drained soils with slightly alkaline pH. Under these conditions, it expresses its full potential in terms of yield, nut size, and kernel oil content, producing walnuts of high commercial quality.

Flowering and fruit set for walnuts

Walnut flowering can be negatively affected by unfavorable environmental conditions such as drought, temperature fluctuations, or intense radiation, which reduce pollen vitality and stigma receptivity, interfere with regular fruit set.

FOLICIST® stimulates metabolism and cell division in floral tissues, promoting nutrient mobilization, improving female flower fertility, and supporting more uniform fruit set, contributing to a greater number of well-formed, high-quality nuts.

Fruit Sizing for walnuts

During fruit sizing, walnut trees must sustain a high energy demand required for kernel formation and reserve accumulation. Nutritional or metabolic stress can slow fruit growth and compromise uniform kernel development, affecting nut size and commercial quality.

RIZAMMINA® 42 promotes cell expansion, protein synthesis, and nutrient translocation to the fruit, improving photosynthetic efficiency and energy availability, resulting in more uniform nuts and well-developed kernels.

Tissues Strengthening for walnuts

During the fruit development and maturation stage, walnut trees require robust cellular structures to ensure healthy fruits and resilience to stress.

PROTAMIN® Cu 62, a biostimulant based on copper complexed with amino acids, promotes the synthesis of lignin, cutin, and structural proteins, reinforcing cell walls and improving tissue cohesion. Copper, active in numerous redox and enzymatic processes, increases mechanical resistance and limits the occurrence of physiological disorders or rots.
